Victoria Khoroshunova

Acclaimed by critics for her artistry and for her vocal and theatrical presence, Victoria Khoroshunova established herself as one of the most exciting newcomers to the international opera scene.

In the 23/24 season, Victoria performs Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana at the Prague State Opera, Teatro Goldoni Livorno and Teatro Chiabrera di Savona. At the beginning of 2024, she will make her role debut as Elena in Boito’s Mefistofele at the Prague State Opera. Further engagements include her debuts and with the Slovak Sinfonietta, at the Festival Opera Nova (at the Prague National Theater) and at the Festival Concentus Moraviae. She has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Andriy Yurkevych, Jiří Rožeň, Gabriel Feltz and Mario Menicagli.

In June 2022, she made her debut at the Prague State Opera performing the main female characters (Woman, Donna Anna and Nun) of Erwin Schulhoff’s Flammen directed by Calixto Bieito, delivering a performance acclaimed by critics for her “intensity” and “strong acting portrayal” (Operaportal). She reprised these roles for her debut at the Janáček Brno Festival in November 2022. The production was nominated for the prestigious International Opera Awards 2022.

Her further career’s highlights include the role of Nedda (Pagliacci) at the Aegean Music Festival, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) as part of the Greek National Opera’s Opera Studio, Bruckner Requiem at the Olympia Municipal Music Theatre Maria Callas in Athens and recitals around Europe.

She has been awarded with the Unesco Greece Maria Callas Award for young artists, as well as the honorary award of the Grand Prix Maria Callas Competition. She won the 1st prize at the Luciano Neroni International singing competition and the 2nd prize (1st not awarded) at the Giorgio Merighi International Singing Competition.

Born in Odessa, Ukraine, she studied at the Odessa National Academy of Music and graduated with distinction from the Athens Conservatory of Music. Victoria studied with Hara Savino, Renata Scotto and Cesare Scarton (Santa Cecilia Opera Studio Rome), Susan Bullock (Musical Odyssey Nafplio), Daphne Evangelatos (Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg).
