Michał Sławecki, Polish countertenor, is a graduate of the Vocal Department at the Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw under the tutelage of Professor Artur Stefanowicz. While still being a student, Michał Sławecki made his debut at the Castle Opera in Szczecin as Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus.

His broad repertuar covers various periods, from baroque to modern compositions. He appeared on stage performing the parts of: the First Witch in Dido and Aeneas H. Purecll, Sesto in Giulio Cesare in Egitto G.F. Haendel, Nerone in L’incoronazione di Poppea C. Monteverdii, Nerone in Agrippina G.F. Haendel, the title role in Rinaldo G.F. Haendel, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro W.A. Mozart, Orfeo ed Euridice Ch.W. Gluck Angel/Orfeo, the title role in Voyager S. Kupczak, Lost Higway O. Neuwirth Andy, Cud Niedokonany S. Kupczak Jezus, Człowiek z Manufaktury R. Janiak Koń/Marynarz, Only the sound Remains K.Saariaho (Spirit).

Mr. Sławecki’s debuts in the years 2017-2019 include the parts of Stefano in Romeo et Juliette at the Silesian Opera in Bytom, the Horse-Sailor at the Grand Theatre in Łódź in a world premiere of an opera composed by Rafał Janiak, the winner of the International Opera Composition Competition The Man from Manufaktura and Cherubino in a new production of Le nozze di Figaro at the Warsaw Chamber Opera, and the new production of Le Nozze di Figaro at the Grand Theatre in Łódź. 

In the 2019/2020 season the artist appeared in the title part in a world premiere of Karol Nepelski’s Birdy at the Tête à Tête Opera Festival in London and returned to the parts of Nerone in Agrippina at the Festival of Baroque Operas Dramma per musica in Warsaw, Stefano at the Silesian Opera in Bytom and Prince Orlofsky at the Castle Opera in Szczecin. His engagements in the 2020/2021 season include debuts in Uranio’s part in a concert version of N. Porpora’s Filandro at the Bydgoszcz Baroque Scene Festival and the countertenor part in Kaija Saariaho’s opera Only the Sound Remains at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Theatre – production which the next presented at La Biennale di Venezia in September 2021, Theatre Maillon de Strasbourg 2022. 

Michał Sławecki is known for his contemporary music interpretations and he cooperates with prominent Polish composers: Paweł Mykietyn, Agata Zubel, Wojciech Błażejczyk, Rafał Ryterski, Bartek Chajdecki, Maciej Zieliński and Andrzej Zarycki amongst others. Michał Sławecki sung at such venues as the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Philharmonics in Szczecin, Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz, the Silesian Opera in Bytom, the Polish National Opera, the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, the Castle Opera in Szczecin, the Manoel Theatre in Malta, Theatre Maillon de Strasbourg, Theatro Mailbran Venice and performed with concert repertoire in Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Austria, South Africa, Serbia and Kazakhstan.
