Leonardo Benini was born in Verona and has grown in a family deeply passionate about arts, thanks which he started his musical studies in his earliest childhood. In June 2014, he obtains his clarinet diploma from Mauro Pedron’s class at the Conservatory F.A. Bonporti of Trento, achieving a final valuation of 10/10 Cum Laude. He then continues his musical studies by attending composition in Massimo Priori’s class. In October 2017, he completes the Bachelor with a final valuation of 110/110 Cum Laude, presenting an original chamber opera for two soloists, choir and ensemble called “Fabbrica Interiore”. He first approaches orchestral conducting by attending Masterclasses arranged by professors Giancarlo Andretta, Fabrizio Dorsi, Isaac Karabtchevsky, Mario Lanaro et Julian Lombana. Strongly committed to pursue this career, in 2017 he is admitted to the conducting class of Laurent Gay at the Haute Ècole de Musique of Geneva, graduating with excellent results in June 2019. Right after his graduation he dedicates himself to the concert activity conducting several concerts with Orchestra Machiavelli, Next Generation Orchestra, Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi, L’orchestre Buissonnier, Orchestra Arcangelo Corelli and I Virtuosi Italiani. Among this year’s projects there is the musical direction of Prima la musica poi le parole by Antonio Salieri in Legnago and the debut on the podium of Fondazione Arena di Verona Orchestra with the Pinocchio in variazioni by the Italian composer Paolo Furlani. He supports M° Sebastiano Rolli and M° Corrado Rovaris in several opera productions as musical assistant in institutions such as Nouvel Opèra de Fribourg, Opèra de Dijon, Opèra de Lausanne and Teatro la Maestranza in Seville.
